What to ask before you commission a custom robot

If you're evaluating a custom robotics project, ask your supplier three questions:

  1. How fast can you show me a physical sample? If the answer is measured in months, the project will be measured in months.
  2. Who actually manufactures your core components? If the answer is "our partners do," ask who owns quality when something fails.
  3. What happens when I want to change one detail after seeing the prototype? The answer tells you how the whole engagement will feel.
